gs by Philip Dunn. When I first started taking pictures of the then 'town' I made a postcard range to get things going. Just before the print run I ran down to the beach to quickly shoot a couple of deckchairs to add a 'classic' to the range. To be hoest I wasn't really aware of Phillip Dunn's strong association with deckchair images at the time. Like Roger Bamber's shot of the Pavilion reflected in the ornamental pond, it becomes so ingrained into a city's identity the original source becomes forgotten. I was just going to get a couple of striped deckchairs as an image the public would want. That postcard shot was hurridly taken on free 'Jessops' film. We needed one that held blown up to larger sizes. This retake is just a more polished version copying my original composition which was very popular. It's style and composition, in turn is now heavily copied!
