oming from the east. I snapped them quickly but knew the shot would be nothing without some context. So I ran ahead about 60 metres or thereabouts and spotted the gentleman relaxing outside his hut. I crouched down by the wall opposite and looked at what was framed opposite me. (wanting to leave plenty of room on the right of frame for the incoming 'couple'). I shuffled a bit to get 3 huts fully in plus the brolly and was chuffed to see I could also position my height to get a reflection in the beach hut mirror too. It was definitely a very 'quick' moment as the scooter appeared in my frame immediately and I waited for it to be fully in frame- clicked once as the lady turned to clock the sunbather and that was that. Waiting to get the film back I knew I'd get a bit of softness on the scooter couple (if I did get the shot) as I hadn't been good enough to change settings - but luckily they weren't too soft and I love the resulting image. We didn't know who they were but they seemed chuffed when the family spotted the photo in the Argus and we sent handprints. (We have been informed that the lady has since passed on, but we have failed trying to recontact the family for more information about her/credit the scene more). The lady in the mirror reflection turned out to be the sunbathers wife. Used in the 2003 calendar.
