Seeing Things | by Chris Harrison

Chris Harrison is a Brighton-based photographer and graphic designer. His main inspiration is his home city, Brighton, which has a reputation for being a ‘free-thinking city’, and his photography reflects some of that free-thinking spirit. He walks out of his front door without knowing what he might find, curiosity is his motivation. If he is lucky he might arrive home having photographed something surreal, something humorous or maybe something graphically pleasing. He likes to walk with an open mind and experiment with the moment as it unfolds.

Chris’ work has been exhibited in group street photography shows in Rome, San Francisco, Sydney, Los Angeles and Brussels. He’s been a finalist in the Italian Street Photo Festival for the last four years and was awarded a bronze at the Paris Street Photo Festival in 2019. He’s also been a past finalist in several photography festival competitions including, Los Angeles Center of Photography (2020), Street Foto San Francisco (2019), Street Photography International (2019), Brussels Street Photography Festival (2019) and the Aussie Street Photography Festival (2019).

Chris’ passion for photography started in 1987 when, at the age of 16, he first saw the work of Elliot Erwitt. That first encounter with photography lit a flame for Chris that still burns very brightly today. In 2016 the calling to turn his passion into something more tangible came when Chris decided to scale back on his branding and graphic design work and make more time to do the work he loves.
